Having been kicked off the gee and the gee facebook sites for God-only-knows why, you would have to find his facebook site and contact him there once you have pics of your data plate and of the frame where the serial number is stamped into it. Tom has that information in his data base. Even more to the point, you would have to know what factory produced the jeep you are using as your reference and be sure that your jeep was also from the same factory. You would have to be confident that the source of any documentation you are using is in fact, correct. Heck, they might even be in different contracts with an entirely different range of USA numbers! That would mean the list of USA numbers each factory was using could be hundreds if not over a thousand apart for jeeps that essentially have almost sequential motor numbers (serial numbers).

Remember that with multiple factories, Ford might have one motor number (serial number) listed on one day and another factory have a motor number (serial number) very close to it and the DOD be weeks apart.

I wish it was that easy to come up with a hood number based on another jeep's motor number (serial number) and the USA number listed for it. I may have photo copies of additional jeep information from the time in College Park, I will have to look for it! Most of these jeeps were listed on stolen jeep reports, missing jeeps, starting in combat areas, through occupation the duties in Germany. Every unit in the military has documents, pictures, maps, etc., there, that were turned in after the war. I would guess that there is plenty more data in the huge collection. All the documents were pulled fromħ0th Infantry Division Records, which were in boxes, or file binders, etc. Pressed for time, that was the best I could do in short order. I took pictures of documents that were in the National Archives at College Park, MD.

I posted info from just the pictures, in The Technical Knowledge Base. I sure hope that someone can find a 70th Division Jeep, over there in France and Germany! So much stuff, so little time to look at it!!! I found the info from some 70th Division records in the National Archives, College Park, Maryland.ĭidn't have enough time to get much, but did photograph some pages with Jeep, Dodge WC,etc. Not many, but enough that someone may get the real history of their fantastic jeeps, down to infantry company levels. It has the serial numbers, hood numbers, and companies in the division, that used certain jeeps. Here in the states, and turned in, and also later in combat in France, and occupation in Germany in 1945. I also have some serial number information for some jeeps that the 70th Infantry Division used I have already printed off the auction booklet!!! What a great resource. Will let you know if I find any more from that 1946 sale.
